Launched in 2016, Project 44 was created in honor of the late Andrew Smith, a beloved member of Butler’s two-time NCAA Finals basketball team. After receiving a bone marrow transplant in November of 2015, Andrew lived an additional three months alongside his wife Samantha and made memories that will last a lifetime. In January 2016, Andrew (25) passed away following a two-year battle with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Now, Project 44’s is committed to carrying out Andrew’s legacy. With the initial goal of saving 44 lives, the organization aims to add new members to the bone marrow donation registry. But it faces a steep climb.
With a 430:1 ratio of registrants to matches, we need 18,920 new registry members. Will you support us?
